Where it stands

On 2026-10-10 a tester on Windows (Radeon RX 5700 XT) reported that Silt boots, reaches the main menu, starts a new game and plays through several areas, with sound. The window title shows 44 to 52 fps in game. This needs the tester's own 12-file patch on top of current main, which is not merged. The game is a Unity game, with FMOD for audio.

The patch has four parts. Anti-aliasing is switched off by a setting, because the project cannot draw the game's 4x or 2x multisampled image; the frame is otherwise complete. Two more fixes help the game load its own add-on modules and give the PSN plugin the start-up arguments it expects. The fourth fixes a deadlock that froze the game while it loaded the first level or the next area (the game's memory-cleanup handler and the project's memory-mapping lock waited on each other).

Two problems are listed as still open: there is no anti-aliasing, and there is one rendering artefact that the post does not describe. The tester says how much of the game is covered only as 'several areas', so it is not proven that the whole game can be finished.

On plain main the game fails earlier. A merged change (2026-10-08) adds the player-review dialog library that the game's PSN plugin needs. A separate Linux report from 2026-10-09 says the game crashes after showing the window with an undefined-symbol error in the game's Il2Cpp module; no Linux fix is shown.

WindowsPlays through several areas with sound at 44 to 52 fps on main plus four local changes; no anti-aliasing and one rendering artefact.
LinuxCrashes after the window appears with an undefined-symbol error in Il2CppUserAssemblies; not past that point.

What is stopping it

  • The game draws its scene with multisampling (4x, or 2x after settings load), which the project cannot present; the workaround turns anti-aliasing off. Thread
  • The game loads its own add-on modules by path and passes them start-up arguments; plain main does neither, so the game crashes in the PSN plugin. Thread
  • A deadlock between signal handling and the project's memory-mapping lock froze loading on Windows; fixed only in the tester's local patch. Thread
  • On Linux the game crashes after the window appears with an undefined-symbol error in Il2CppUserAssemblies.prx. Thread

How it got here

  1. A pull request is opened to add the player-review dialog library that the game's PSN plugin imports; without it, loading the plugin fails. Source
  2. The player-review dialog library pull request is merged. The dialog shows nothing and reports 'user canceled'. Source
  3. A Linux user reports that the game crashes after showing its window, with an undefined symbol in Il2CppUserAssemblies.prx. Source
  4. A Windows tester reports the game boots to the main menu and starts a new game with three local changes, then stalls while the first level loads. Source
  5. With a fourth local change (the deadlock fix) the same tester reports playing through several areas with sound at 44 to 52 fps, with no anti-aliasing and one rendering artefact left. Source
