Sonic 1 plays at 51-60 fps (60 = full speed) on Linux, but only on a testing branch: current main plus several open PRs, local workarounds, and host memory tweaks. The other games in the collection and the Plus content are untested.

Where it stands
Sonic Origins is further along than most titles here. On Linux (Ubuntu, a Radeon R9 380), tester NahuelGenchi gets it through the SEGA logo and intro movies, past the auto-save notice, to the title screen and main menu. From there Anniversary Mode starts Sonic 1, which they have played by hand through Green Hill Zone into Marble Zone Act 1, and also as Knuckles. Running, jumping, badniks and rings work, with no crashes reported. Sonic 1 runs at 51-60 fps at 960x540 (60 is full speed).
This is not plain main. It uses current main plus several open pull requests, a local workaround for a shader-size limit (stop A), and four unmerged speed branches. The host also needed hand-set root-level tweaks for GPU memory: the graphics memory limit raised to 10 GiB and the udmabuf limit set to 8192 MB. With the default graphics memory the device was lost about ten seconds after the auto-save notice. Only Sonic 1 has been tried. The other games in the collection and the Plus content are not tested.
Problems left: the main menu is the slowest scene at about 10-11 fps (around 110 draws and 57 ms of GPU time per frame), the opening movie ran at about 10 fps at one point, and at 4K the game ran at about 1-2 fps before the speed work. On plain main the game does not even start: it exits at launch because of one missing function (since fixed by a merged PR). A separate Windows tester measured the heaviest Sonic Origins Plus menu page at about 21-23 fps (RTX 2080 Ti) after a batch of speed fixes.
How it got here: in about three days the tester worked through a list of stops. Fixes merged along the way include a missing JSON function (startup), a share-content call, depth/stencil draws without a pixel shader, 2D textures read through a 3D lookup, and a file-reading call that left the screen white after the SEGA logo.

What is stopping it
- A shader-size limit (shader image heap capacity exceeded, then sampler pairs) still needs a local workaround. Tracked as #1789. Thread
- Memory: on a 2 GB GPU, the device is lost unless the host's graphics memory and udmabuf limits are raised by hand (root settings), plus import-window work (#290). Thread
- Speed: the main menu is about 10-11 fps and 4K was about 1-2 fps before speed work. Four speed branches are not yet PRs because new PRs were paused. Thread
- Only Sonic 1 has been tried; the other games in the collection and the Plus content are untested. Thread
- Clip-distance draws fail at 'prepared shader artifact is missing' and the PR (#423) needs a rebase. Thread
How it got here
- A Windows tester opens speed PRs measured on Sonic Origins Plus's heaviest menu page (about 21-23 fps, RTX 2080 Ti). Source
- A missing JSON function is added, so the game no longer exits at launch. Source
- Bring-up thread opened; the game gets to the SEGA logo, which renders. Source
- The white screen after the SEGA logo is fixed; the game plays the logo movies and reaches the auto-save notice. Source
- Main menu reached and Sonic 1 plays in Green Hill Zone once GPU memory limits are raised. Source
- Fix for 2D textures read through 3D lookups is merged. Source
- Depth/stencil-only draws with an unwritten pixel program are accepted (merged). Source
- Sonic 1 runs at 51-60 fps; Marble Zone and a Knuckles game are played without crashes. Source
