Saros on AnyPS5
Plays the intro and reaches the language and subtitle setup screen on one tester's private build, then hits a GPU hang; not verified on main.
Reached the language/subtitle setup screen on one tester's private local build (upstream PRs plus local fixes on top of d70b8998); not verified on plain current main.

Where it stands
Saros has only one person working on it so far (rhya119). On a private build made of AnyPS5 as of d70b8998 plus other open pull requests and local fixes, the game plays its intro and reaches a setup screen with game language, subtitles and a Continue button. It runs at about 60 FPS there and the keyboard works.
After pressing Continue, the game starts drawing more complex scenes and the graphics card hangs (a 'device lost' error). The main menu and gameplay have not been reached. The tester also notes that the textures are not confirmed to be correct, because the current test run uses a fallback path for lots of textures.
What is not known: nobody has tested Saros on an unmodified current main. The tester was testing a fix for how shaders load data from memory (PR #2259) when they last posted. Their depth and stencil fix is committed locally and has not been shared because their account cannot push to the project yet.
One main-branch fix landed on 2026-10-10: Saros imports an audio-propagation function that AnyPS5 did not know, which stopped the game before it even started. PR #1947 adds a placeholder for that function. Placeholders do not make the function work, but the game can now continue past that point.

What is stopping it
- A GPU hang / device-lost error appears after pressing Continue on the language screen, once the game starts heavier rendering. Thread
- Not yet checked on plain main; the working build includes extra unmerged pull requests and local fixes. Thread
- Textures are not verified: the current test falls back to an overflow path for bindless textures. Thread
How it got here
- A bring-up thread is opened and the first screenshot is posted. Source
- The tester reports a local fix that keeps depth and stencil writes separate, with its GPU tests passing; it is not pushed upstream. Source
- The tester's build plays the intro and reaches the language and subtitle screen at about 60 FPS; it hits a GPU hang after Continue. Source
- Fix for the missing singular audio-propagation function is merged into main, so Saros no longer fails on that import. Source
