Where it stands

NHL 27 has not been shown to start. Everything on record is about the first step, converting the game's main program file (eboot.bin) into a Windows program. That step failed at once on release v0.1.1 with an 'Unsupported Windows guest TLS instruction' message (issue #217, opened 2026-10-01).

TLS is the way a program reads per-thread data. The PS5 game reads it with several instruction forms that the converter did not understand. Four fixes have been merged into main one after another: reading a thread value at a fixed offset (#340, 2026-10-04), simple arithmetic on one (#767, 2026-10-06), reading through a register address (#1233, 2026-10-08) and arithmetic through a register address (#1651, 2026-10-10). Issue #217 was closed on 2026-10-10.

No report says whether the conversion now finishes, nor what happens after it. Another change that would help the game, a missing store-dialog function used by NHL 27 and two other titles (#1983), was closed without being merged, so that function still throws if called. Treat the game as not started until someone posts a boot log.

WindowsConversion (relinking) failed on TLS instructions; four fixes are now merged. No run reported.
LinuxNo test report yet
macOSNo test report yet

What is stopping it

  • No report that the converted game starts. After the TLS fixes the next obstacle is unknown. Thread
  • The store dialog function sceNpCommerceDialogOpen2, which NHL 27 imports, throws when called; the pull request that would implement it was closed without merging. Thread

How it got here

  1. A user reports that converting NHL 27's eboot.bin for Windows fails with an unsupported TLS instruction error. Source
  2. Fix merged for thread-value loads at fixed offsets (the first stack-guard check). Source
  3. Fix merged for arithmetic instructions that read thread values, such as the stack-guard xor. Source
  4. Fix merged for thread-value loads through a register address; main had stopped on 'mov rax, fs:[rbx]'. Source
  5. Fix merged for arithmetic on thread values through a register address; the relinking issue is closed. Source
